-- HERESY --
Zen Master Zhaozhou (Japanese: Jōshū, 778-897) entered the Dharma hall and addressed the monks, saying, “When a true person speaks a heresy, all heresies become true. When a heretic speaks a truth, all truth becomes heresy.”
----!!!!----
Remember! By mugging up the words of enlightened people you will not become enlightened, but once you become enlightened whatever you say will become scripture.
But people are very strange! Someone has mugged up Bible, someone has mugged up Koraan, Bhagvad Gita, Dhammapada and they think they have known. Their quotes may be perfect but they themselves are wrong!
I have heard that once a king was passing through a village on his chariot. He saw that on every tree there is an arrow struck exactly at the centre of a circle. He was quite surprised! He was also a great archer but still sometimes he missed his target. And there all the arrows were perfectly on target! He stopped his chariot and asked people about that great archer. People laughed and said that there was no archer there. In fact there was an idiot who first shoot the arrow and then drew a circle around the hitting point! Obviously it was always perfect!
No! Don't do such idiotic things. The path of meditation is new to you. You will certainly make mistakes. But those mistakes are valuable. But without meditating if you mug up from scriptures that whether there is a soul or not, whether there is any enlightenment or not, whether there is life after death or not, then your answer may become right but you shall remain wrong!
This is why Zen is utterly against your scriptures. Don't mug up the scriptures. Don't deceive yourself. Meditate! Zen means Meditation!!
