-- Politics --
When Zen Master Nanquan entered Xuancheng, the official Lu Geng came out of the city to greet him. Pointing at the city gate, Lu Geng said, "Everyone calls this the 'Gate of Harmony.' What would the master call it?"
Nanquan said, "I fear that if I were to speak it would insult Your Eminence's reputation."
----!!!!----
Politicians are really funny people. They keep on seeking solutions outside for their whole life! They flee white pigeons and say it is the symbol of peace which will bring harmony in world. They spend their whole life in planning for some external policies and rules which can bring prosperity in the world. Their whole faith is on policies. But how anything external can bring inner wealth? People are sick of finding negativeness in their lives. No matter what external things you give them, they will find some reason to remain dissatisfied.
Another thing, Alfred Adler was an Austrian psychologist. He has said that the more a person is suffering from inferiority complex, the more he tries to prove that he is superior. Politicians, for their whole life keep trying to prove others they are superior, their party is superior, their nation is superior. Same is the stupidity of a politician of another party. And they keep preaching the same insanity to other people. They preach people to be proud to be an Indian, be proud to be an American, Australian and so on. They say : Die for your motherland. No! There can only be Mother World; there is nothing like motherland!
Zen is utterly against your ego. The whole idea of meditation is that you are not Indian, you are not American, you are not Australian, you are not male, you are not female and you are not soul either!
Zen is utterly antagonist to the politics. Meditation is going within. Politics is seeking without. This is why Buddha says:
"Peace lies within. Don't seek it without!"
A politician can never be religious. A religious person can never be politician!
